Why Chido Obi Isn’t Moving to France Despite Reports

Social media buzz over Chido Obi’s loan to OGC Nice has been shut down as the 17-year-old remains part of Manchester United’s first-team plans

Talk of Chido Obi leaving Manchester United for OGC Nice has been dismissed as completely false — www.isagoal.com reports.

Allnigeriasoccer.com confirmed that no discussions have taken place between the two clubs.

Claims of a season-long loan deal were fuelled by online speculation but lack any real basis.

The young striker remains with United’s senior squad despite new attacking signings.

Pre-season saw Obi face Leeds, West Ham, and Bournemouth in friendlies.

He was also listed among the substitutes for games against Everton and Fiorentina.

Obi moved from Arsenal to United in October 2024 and debuted against Tottenham in February 2025.

Last season, he appeared in eight competitive senior matches.

At youth level, he scored 14 goals in 15 games, including hat-tricks versus Nottingham Forest and Chelsea.

For the 2025–26 campaign, the teenager will wear the number 32 shirt.
