Wolves Honour Diogo Jota With Hall of Fame Induction

Wolves have honoured Diogo Jota with a Hall of Fame tribute just days after the 28-year-old tragically died in a car crash with his brother in Spain

Wolverhampton Wanderers have inducted Diogo Jota into their Hall of Fame following his tragic death in a car crash on July 3, IsaGoal can report.

Jota, 28, died alongside his brother Andre Silva while in Spain, leaving the football world in mourning.

The former Wolves star played a crucial role during the club’s rise under Nuno Espirito Santo, scoring 44 goals in 131 appearances between 2017 and 2020.

His impact at Molineux earned him legendary status, later solidified by a successful spell at Liverpool, where he netted 65 times and won the Premier League.

Speaking on the club website, Hall of Fame chairman and Wolves vice president John Richards said: “There is such a feeling of sadness and disbelief around this awful tragedy that we wanted to make this tribute of our own as soon as we could.”

He added: “We remember what a wonderful player Diogo was for Wolves during that unforgettable promotion season… we saw no reason to delay this decision.”

Wolves fans and the football community have paid tribute to Jota, who also helped Portugal win the UEFA Nations League this summer.

Richards said the induction was made “with real love and admiration”, hoping the move brings comfort to the families and fans affected by the tragedy.

Wolves plan to honour Jota further during their upcoming friendly against Celta Vigo and in their Premier League opener against Manchester City.
