Manchester United have identified Fiorentina striker Moise Kean as a serious transfer target, with the club considering triggering his £45 million release clause before its July 15 expiry, according to The Athletic.
Kean, 25, has revitalised his career in Italy following a turbulent stint in the Premier League with Everton.
The Italy international managed just four goals in 39 appearances during his time at Goodison Park, where he developed a reputation for poor punctuality and inconsistent form.
Despite his struggles, Kean’s time in England appears to have sparked growth both on and off the pitch.
Since joining Fiorentina last summer for around £15 million, Kean has found top form, scoring 25 goals across all competitions, including 19 in Serie A.
His resurgence has caught the attention of United, who are in desperate need of attacking reinforcements following a season in which they registered the fifth-lowest goal tally in the Premier League.
With primary target Viktor Gyokeres edging closer to Arsenal, United see Kean as a viable alternative — but must move fast.
His release clause is only valid until mid-July.
Speaking last year about his struggles in England, Kean admitted the weather and culture shock played a role in his adaptation issues.
However, he claims he’s matured significantly since that time. “England made me learn a lot about myself,” he said. “I wasn’t playing and I had to grit my teeth… Mentally, it made me evolve.”
Now thriving in Florence, Kean may be ready for a Premier League return — and Manchester United could be the ones to give him a second chance.
