Arsenal are closing in on the signing of Chelsea winger Noni Madueke in a surprise £52 million deal, IsaGoal can report.
The 23-year-old England international has been granted permission to leave Chelsea’s Club World Cup camp in the USA to complete a medical with Arsenal.
Madueke is expected to join for an initial £48m plus £4m in add-ons, according to multiple reports.
Despite playing predominantly on the right for Chelsea last season, Arsenal see him as a potential option on the left, a position they’ve been eager to reinforce.
Originally signed from PSV in 2023 for £29m, Madueke featured 33 times for Chelsea last season, mostly on the right, scoring six goals and providing four assists.
However, he failed to contribute in seven appearances on the left.
Arsenal fans are divided over the move, especially given the club’s heavy interest in Real Madrid’s Rodrygo and Athletic Club’s Nico Williams — both natural left-wingers with higher pedigree.
Rodrygo, valued at around £69m, remains Arsenal’s preferred long-term target, but Real Madrid’s stance and Chelsea’s urgency to sell due to UEFA spending regulations have made Madueke more accessible.
Chelsea, who added Joao Pedro, Liam Delap, and Jamie Gittens this summer, are under pressure to balance their books to meet Champions League registration rules.
While Madueke offers depth and versatility, questions remain about whether he’s the right fit for Arsenal’s left-wing rebuild.
