Barcelona’s predicted line-up against Bayern Munich

Barcelona’s boss Xavi Hernandez faces a big decision over whether to start Gavi for Wednesday’s high profile match against Bayern Munich.

The teenage player was taken to hospital after suffering a head injury in the defeat to modest Spanish side Real Betis but as it was reported he did not suffer a concussion and has been among those in the training section.

However, it would still be a surprise to see him certified fit for the Wednesday showdown given the immediate turnaround while Ansu Fati, Sergio Aguero, Pedri, Martin Braithwaite and Sergio Roberto are unavailable.

Clement Lenglet was given the nod alongside Ronald Araujo for the Betis defeat, but Gerard Pique will aim to be part of an unchanged defence.

Should Gavi not be ready to start against Bayern, Nico Gonzalez should hold his place as Frenkie de Jong returns to the side in midfield alongside Sergio Busquets.

With Fati expectedly losing his stance to face Bayern on Wednesday, Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele could flank Memphis Depay in the attack.

Ez Abde has been enjoying a steady run of form in the Spanish scene, but Xavi may feel it’s too big a risk for the 19 years old to start at the Allianz Arena.
