Tottenham Hotspur have reached an agreement to sign West Ham star Mohammed Kudus for £55million, bringing a fresh wave of excitement to North London, IsaGoal can report,
According to The Athletic, the 24-year-old Ghanaian is scheduled for a medical and will sign a six-year contract with Spurs.
Kudus becomes Thomas Frank’s first major signing as Tottenham manager.
Frank had originally eyed Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo, but Spurs shifted focus after the Cameroon international made it clear he prefers a move to Manchester United.
Spurs had an initial £50m bid for Kudus rejected last week, but a revised offer sealed the deal.
The forward was keen on the switch, and personal terms are already agreed.
Tottenham secured the deal before Kudus’ £85m Premier League release clause became active in early July.
European clubs would have paid £80m, while Saudi clubs faced a £120m clause.
Kudus joined West Ham from Ajax for £38m last year and has since made 65 league appearances, scoring 13 goals and assisting nine.
His arrival comes after Spurs also completed a £38m permanent deal for French forward Mathys Tel from Bayern Munich.
Tel helped Spurs win the Europa League last season, ending their 17-year trophy drought.
While Frank had high hopes of bringing Mbeumo with him from Brentford, Tottenham never submitted a formal bid after learning of his preference for United.
Speaking earlier to Sky Sports, Frank said: “If the right price — and that’s going to be expensive — comes, the club will be open.”
