Pedro Neto Aims to Honour Jota with CWC Trophy

Chelsea’s Pedro Neto is determined to win the Club World Cup final in honour of late friend Diogo Jota, dedicating the trophy pursuit to his memory

Pedro Neto has vowed to dedicate Chelsea’s Club World Cup final to the memory of his close friend and former Wolves team-mate Diogo Jota, IsaGoal can report,

Jota tragically passed away last week in a fatal car crash in Spain alongside his younger brother, Andre Silva.

The football world has been shaken by the news, and those closest to Jota, like Neto, are finding ways to honour him.

According to The Telegraph, Neto and Jota shared a deep bond, both playing together at Wolves and recently representing Portugal in their UEFA Nations League triumph.

Speaking after Chelsea’s 2-0 win over Fluminense in New York, which booked their place in the Club World Cup final, Neto emotionally said, “It’s been really difficult in the last few days and I just want to leave a message that this final is for him and his brother.”

He added, “I want to dedicate this final to him and his family and show my support in these difficult times.”

Neto played a key role in Chelsea’s semi-final win, but it was Joao Pedro who stole the spotlight.

The Brazilian forward, making his first start since his £60 million move from Brighton, scored both goals at the MetLife Stadium.

Pedro’s brace ensured Chelsea progressed to Sunday’s final, where Neto will look to fulfil his emotional promise.
