Atalanta have reached an agreement to sign 17-year-old Nigerian-Italian defender Honest Ahanor from Genoa, IsaGoal can report.
Fabrizio Romano confirmed the deal, which is worth €20 million including €15 million upfront and €5 million in add-ons tied to performance.
The move places Ahanor on par with George Ilenikhena as Nigeria’s most expensive 17-year-old, matching the figure from his 2024 switch to AS Monaco.
Atalanta identified Ahanor as the replacement for Matteo Ruggeri, who is expected to join Atlético Madrid.
Ahanor, under contract until 2028, turned down offers from several top clubs including AC Milan before sealing the Atalanta move.
The pacey left-footer stands out for his speed, long-distance acceleration, and strong ball-carrying ability.
“He’s aggressive, athletic, and very mature for his age,” a club scout told Romano.
His defensive drive and versatility make him a unique fit for Gian Piero Gasperini’s tactical system.
