Brentford have appointed Keith Andrews as their new manager on a three-year deal following Thomas Frank’s departure to Tottenham, IsaGoal can report.
Sky Sports broke the news as the club chose to promote from within once again, staying true to the formula that worked when Frank stepped up in 2018.
Andrews, a former Republic of Ireland international with 35 caps, spent the past season as Brentford’s set-piece coach before landing the top job.
He’s now the first Irishman to manage in the Premier League since Chris Hughton left Brighton in 2019, and he’ll link up with fellow countrymen Caoimhín Kelleher and Nathan Collins.
Andrews began coaching at MK Dons after hanging up his boots in 2015, before moving into Ireland’s youth and senior setups under Stephen Kenny.
After Kenny’s exit, Andrews joined Sheffield United’s staff in December 2023 under Chris Wilder but left at season’s end to return to Brentford.
Club director Phil Giles said, “He is someone we have known for a while and always had in mind for a role at some point in the future.”
Andrews’ promotion came just as Frank took several top backroom staff with him to Spurs, yet Brentford quietly kept the Irish coach on board.
Frank helped Brentford reach the Premier League after 74 years, and Andrews now faces the challenge of maintaining that success while writing his own chapter.
