Rasheedat Ajibade has officially ended her journey with Atlético Madrid after her contract ran out.
The Nigerian forward made a strong impact at the club, scoring 40 goals in 138 matches since joining from Robo Queens in 2021, according to Soccernet.ng.
During her time in Spain, Ajibade helped Atlético lift the Supercopa de España in 2021 and the Copa de la Reina in 2023.
Atlético Madrid confirmed her exit along with Marta Cardona, Ainhoa Moraza, and Merle Barth.
“Our players Cardona, Ajibade, Moraza, and Barth will not continue as Red and White next season and will bid farewell to the fans on Sunday at Alcalá,” the club announced.
With Ajibade’s departure, Atlético Madrid is already working on new signings to strengthen the team.
The club is reportedly close to securing Nigerian international Rinsola Babajide from Costa Adeje Tenerife.
Babajide, who came through Liverpool’s ranks, scored seven goals in 41 appearances for Tenerife.
She also spent time with Brighton and Real Betis before moving to Tenerife.
Though born in England, Babajide switched her international allegiance to Nigeria in 2023 and has since played five times for the Super Falcons.
Fueling talk of a possible move, Babajide recently posted on social media: “A tourist babe in Madrid.”
Reports also link Atlético Madrid with Macarena Portales from Levante Badalona as part of their squad rebuild.
Ajibade’s exit may open the door for Babajide to play a key role in Atlético’s attacking plans.
