Manchester United are still confident about signing Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo, even after Tottenham made a £70 million offer for the forward. The 25-year-old impressed last season, scoring 20 Premier League goals in 38 matches, which has drawn strong interest from both clubs.
According to the Manchester Evening News, United remain in a strong position to secure Mbeumo. Tottenham, however, are pushing hard after naming Thomas Frank as their new manager. Frank, who worked with Mbeumo for six years at Brentford, now offers him the chance to play Champions League football next season.
Reports suggest Tottenham’s bid includes £65 million upfront, with an additional £5 million in potential add-ons. Despite this, Mbeumo is said to favour a move to Manchester United, where he sees a better long-term opportunity.
Speaking to Sky Sports at the Canadian Grand Prix, Mbeumo opened up about the transfer speculation: “It’s been my best season so far in the Premier League. Even collectively, we played very good games. I think we’ve been unlucky to chase the Europe spot, but it’s been a fantastic season.”
Mbeumo also spoke highly of his former manager: “He developed me as a human and a player as well. So I can only wish him all the best, and I’m sure he’s going to do well.”
