Jordanians filled the streets of Amman on Thursday night in celebration after their national team secured a historic place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

According to The New Arab, Jordan claimed a convincing 3–0 win over Oman in Muscat, sealing qualification for their first-ever appearance in the World Cup finals. The match was part of Asia’s final qualification round, where Jordan claimed one of eight spots available to teams from the continent.

The victory not only secured Jordan’s spot in the tournament but also made them the first Arab country to qualify for the 2026 edition, joining South Korea, Japan, and Uzbekistan. Jordan, ranked 62nd globally, stunned fans and analysts alike with their performance.

Amman echoed with the sounds of horns, chants, and celebrations, as fans honored the national team, affectionately known as Al-Nashama, meaning “the chivalrous ones.”

Crown Prince Hussein attended the match in Muscat and joined jubilant fans after forward Ali Iyad Olwan scored a sensational hat-trick. The team dropped to the ground in prayer as the final whistle blew, while thousands of supporters waved flags in the stands.

Princess Rajwa, Princess Iman, and Princess Salma were also present in the Omani capital, witnessing what many are calling the greatest moment in Jordanian football history.

Watching from the Jordanian embassy in London, King Abdullah II posted a heartfelt message on X, formerly Twitter:

“I sincerely congratulate the sons and daughters of our dear people on our national football team’s qualification for the World Cup finals. This historic qualification is well-deserved by our team, which includes stars and cadres we are proud of. A special thanks to our loyal fans who have been our support and encouragement. The Al-Nashama have been and will remain true to their promise.”

Jordan had previously come close to qualification during the 2014 campaign, falling short against Uruguay in the intercontinental playoffs. Since then, the national team struggled for consistency. However, their recent run—including reaching the Asian Cup final last year—sparked renewed belief in the squad.

With their ticket now confirmed, thousands of Jordanian supporters are expected to travel to North America to support their team in the 2026 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
