According to journalist Daniele Longo, Modric has accepted a one-year contract offer from the Italian club, with medical tests set for early next week. The agreement includes an option to extend for an additional season, with the full package worth €4 million including bonuses.
Igli Tare seals the deal in Croatia
AC Milan’s sporting director Igli Tare played a central role in closing the deal. He personally travelled to Croatia to secure Modric’s commitment after initial discussions with the player’s representatives. Tare’s direct approach convinced the Croatian midfielder to accept Milan’s project.
“Modric was won over by the director’s enthusiasm and the vision of the club’s project,” the report stated.
The 39-year-old is not joining as a replacement for Tijjani Reijnders, but rather as an experienced presence in the squad. His leadership and on-pitch intelligence are seen as key assets in AC Milan’s efforts to bounce back from a poor season.
Modric to finish Real Madrid duty before Italy switch
Modric will remain with Real Madrid until their participation in the FIFA Club World Cup concludes. The tournament will take place in the United States next month, marking the midfielder’s final appearance for Los Blancos before making the Serie A switch.
His expected arrival in Milan is scheduled between Monday and Tuesday, when he’ll undergo medicals before putting pen to paper on the new deal.
