Bayern Munich defender Matthijs de Ligt is reportedly under investigation by German police for an alleged ‘car ramming incident.’
The Dutch defender, who has been linked with a move to Manchester United, allegedly collided with a parked car while driving his £63,000 Audi Q8 e-tron and then drove away from the scene.
Witnesses reported the incident to the police, leading to the towing and impounding of De Ligt’s vehicle.
The 24-year-old could now face potential criminal charges.
This news comes at a challenging time in De Ligt’s career, as he has struggled to secure a regular spot in Bayern Munich’s lineup.
Despite a promising start following his £59.5 million transfer from Juventus in 2022, De Ligt’s form has dipped, and he has been left out of the club’s pre-season tour in South Korea.
Erik ten Hag, who previously worked with de Ligt at Ajax, has shown a keen interest in bringing the 24-year-old to Old Trafford.
United has reportedly cooled their interest in Everton’s Jarrod Branthwaite due to his high valuation and are now considering a double bid for De Ligt and his Bayern teammate, Noussair Mazraoui.
However, Bayern rejected the initial offer, holding out for a higher fee.
