Liverpool rounded off their successful tour of the United States in the early hours of Sunday morning UK time with a 3-0 win over bitter Premier League rivals Manchester United.

Fabio Carvalho was on target for the second game running before Curtis Jones and Kostas Tsimikas struck.

This victory ensured the Reds made it three triumphs on the trot stateside after the 2-1 victory over Arsenal and 1-0 success over Real Betis.

In front of a crowd of 77,559 at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia, South Carolina, Liverpool’s new head coach Arne Slot expressed satisfaction with the result but acknowledged United’s threats and goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher’s crucial saves.

Slot stated, “We are very happy with the result. We scored some really nice goals but I don’t think we had enough control over the game because United were threatening us more than a few times. It’s a 3-0 win but the score could have been different tonight as well.”

United were made to pay for their lack of ruthlessness in front of goal.

A bad night for boss Erik ten Hag worsened when Jonny Evans, Victor Lindelof, Will Fish, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka were all forced to leave the field.

Reflecting on the defeat and the tour overall, Ten Hag said, “There were mixed feelings, I would say. I think I have seen positive bits, but the way we concede goals, we are, of course, not happy with it. Liverpool are a very good side; they are very aggressive and have lots of goalscoring abilities.”
