Recently-sacked Thomas Tuchel could be back in management by October.
The German, who was sacked by the Blues earlier this month owing to a poor start to the season, has been linked to a return to Germany by the way of Bayern Munich.
According to Bild, Tuchel is the man that the Bundesliga giants will turn to should their current coach Julian Nagelsmann get the chop.
The Bavarians have started the season poorly and their 1-0 loss to Augsburg over the weekend made it four league games without a win for the reigning champions.
And now reports suggest that if results don’t pick up soon, Bayern will look to former Borussia Dortmund coach Tuchel, who’s been without a club for a few weeks.
In fact, Bild state that Bayern may dismiss the 35-year-old Nagelsmann he if suffers further poor results during October – leaving the door open for out-of-work Tuchel to make a quick return to the game.
The club’s CEO Oliver Kahn, though, has publicly backed Nagelsmann despite the rumours linking Tuchel to the top job in Germany. Kahn told Sky Germany: “We are not dealing with any other coaches now. We are totally convinced of Julian.
“Of course, we are all dissatisfied, in a bad mood. We have to get to the bottom of it all. And assume that as soon as it starts again against Leverkusen, we will and must attack fully.
“Perhaps one or the other has taken hold of the belief that you could do the Bundesliga on the side. But that’s not the case.”
