Manchester City have agreed a £12.5 million deal to sign Norwegian midfielder Sverre Nypan from Rosenborg. The 18-year-old is set to join the Premier League champions on a contract running until 2030.
According to Sky Sports, Nypan has been widely regarded as one of Norway’s brightest football talents and is often compared to Martin Odegaard due to his vision and technical ability. Manchester City’s latest signing follows their recent summer acquisitions of Tijjani Reijnders, Rayan Cherki, Rayan Ait Nouri, and Marcus Bettinelli.
Nypan has impressed since making his debut for Rosenborg at just 15, becoming the youngest player to feature and score for the club in the Norwegian top flight. He attracted attention from major European clubs, with Arsenal showing interest in January, but the midfielder chose to delay his decision until the summer.
Speaking about the teenager, Sky Sports’ Pat Rowe said: “On the pitch, Sverre Nypan is a superstar in the making. But off it, he is a regular, grounded 18-year-old who, despite his exceptional talents, has his feet firmly on the ground.”
