Significant points as Liverpool claims a vital 2-0 win against Wolves

The Reds were 2-0 winners over their visiting counterpart Wolves as they bagged the required three points in the contest.

Despite the stalemate at half-time, the Reds somehow got the desired result they needed as we evaluate the significant points from the Anfield contest.

Liverpool needs more players

The Reds’ inability to break down their counterpart at home for the entire 45 minutes is proof of the depth of quality that is lacking in the Liverpool side.

While the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United were busy signing players Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp only managed to bring in Cody Gakpo from Dutch giants PSV Eindhoven.

To the best of my knowledge, that’s not enough in terms of quality for a club of Liverpool’s class if they are to improve and challenge for honours with the big sides in the EPL and in Europe in the nearest future as the case may be.

Valuable three points for Liverpool

With UEFA Champions League slots still in view, this win against Wolves could be a step in the right direction for Liverpool.

Second-half goals from the clubs’ superstars in defender Virgil Van Dijk and Egypt’s talisman Mohamed Salah were enough to secure the win for the Reds.

And in all regards, Jurgen Klopp would be pleased with the win for his side as tougher games await Liverpool in the current season.

Liverpool must maintain consistency

The Reds may have claimed back-to-back wins following the 2-0 success against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

While they have also triumphed against Carabao Cup finalist Newcastle United 0-2 at St.James Park recently.

But they must ensure consistency now at this stage of the season as they need more results for the confidence to face tough opposition in the likes of Manchester United at Anfield on Super Sunday.

Not also forgetting the daunting clash against Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League return leg tie to be staged at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.
