Odion Ighalo has returned to the Super Eagles after he rescinded his decision to come out of retirement.
It’s been a two-year absence since Ighalo left Nigeria’s Super Eagles and Rohr has been searching more for a replacement with Victor Osimhen seeming to be the only player that has flourished in that role for Nigeria.
However, he will be made to complete the striking option thus competing alongside Victor Osimhen and Paul Onuachu for Nigeria’s number 9 shirt.
With Onuachu already sporting another jersey in the team, the stake would be between Ighalo and Osimhen for the number 9 shirt.
Osimhen has held sway in the shirt number left behind by Odion Ighalo two years ago and it would be interesting to see who takes up the number 9 shirt for the match against Liberia at the weekend.
Odion may be humble about it leaving it for Osimhen for good but the Napoli man also has good regard for his partner Ighalo.
And this could see him step back to hand Odion the shirt number following his return to the National team.
Even as many Nigerian soccer-loving fans would aim to see who and how Rohr sets up his attacking options.
All this would be in review as Nigeria get set for the doubleheader against Liberia and Cape Verde Islands during the International break.
But until then we hope both players get along with each other thus hoping for a better Nigeria with Osimhen and Ighalo leading the charge for goals.
