NPFL 2021-2022: Plateau United trashes Shooting Stars in Jos

Plateau United continued in their fantastic form after trashing Shooting Stars 3-1 in their matchday thirteen of the 2021-2022 NPFL season in Jos on Wednesday.

The 2017 NPFL champions came on the heels of an impressive three wins on the trot which includes ending Rivers Unuted’s unbeaten run and an away win against Kano Pillars last weekend.

And on Wednesday, the Peace Boys started the game on a bright note. Muhammad Zulkifilu netted United’s first goal of the game courtesy of an assist from Akila Jesse.

The match took another dimension after Zulkifilu’s opener as both teams created little or no chances afterwards.

Minutes before the break, Okeowo Oluwaseyi equalised for Shooting Stars in the 42nd minutes after a defensive blunder from a Plateau United defender.

The second half started with both teams knocking the ball around but a quick goal out of nowhere from Albert Hilary in the 71st minutes restored Plateau United’s lead.

The hosts completed a resounding victory on Edith Agoye’s Shooting Stars from the spot when Zulkifilu was brought down in the box.

Nenrot Silas converted the resultant penalty as Plateau United recorded their seventh straight home win this season and extended their winning streak to four games

Addressing the journalists after the very interesting and tough duel, Ilechukwu notes that the team is still a work in progress.

“It’s all about working and working, we will not give up, these feats will not get into our heads, we want to keep this tremendous form and plan for the game we have ahead.”
