Nigeria Women’s Coach Wadlum Keen on Reaching FIFA World Cup Knockout Stage

Since the 12th Women Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco resulted in the Super Falcons not only failing to reach ‘La Decima’ (The Tenth) but also finishing without a podium spot for the first time in many years, Head Coach Randy Waldrum has become determined to lead an impressive performance at the upcoming FIFA Women’s World Cup finals taking place in Australia & New Zealand.

Waldrum’s optimism is high, and he is confident that his team can progress far, however acknowledges that it must all begin with advancing out of the group stage.

Nigeria will be looking to avoid a repeat of what happened in Morocco when they lost three out of their six matches, with two key players receiving red cards.

The country are part of an exclusive list that have never once failed to qualify for a FIFA Women’s World Cup, and as such have been placed in Group B alongside Canada, Australia and Republic Of Ireland.

Their campaign will start on 20th July based within Brisbane, where they will play two out of their three matches before travelling elsewhere within Australia for their remaining one game.
