Liverpool are reportedly keeping an eye on Flamengo’s 21-year-old defender Wesley Franca as a potential transfer target.
According to reports, the Reds have shown a sustained interest in the youngster, who played a pivotal role in Flamengo’s Campeonato Carioca championship win last year.
Franca has made 113 appearances for the club, scoring two goals during his tenure.
The Brazilian is reportedly on the cusp of a call-up to the national squad for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, with games scheduled against Colombia and Argentina next month.
Liverpool have been scouting him since last season, with informal talks having already taken place.
The club is expected to take further action after the Club World Cup in the summer.
Flamengo has already turned down offers from Aston Villa, AFC Bournemouth and other clubs, including a €25 million bid from Russian side Zenit Saint Petersburg.
Speculation suggests that he could potentially replace Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is currently out of contract at the end of the season.
Alexander-Arnold has yet to sign a new deal, and Real Madrid are reportedly interested in acquiring him on a free transfer in the summer.
Despite this, Liverpool coach Arne Slot has remained tight-lipped about the future of Alexander-Arnold and other key players, such as Mo Salah and Virgil van Dijk, whose contracts also expire soon.
Meanwhile, Conor Bradley, another option for Liverpool, is facing a setback after suffering a hamstring injury during last Wednesday’s 2-2 draw with Aston Villa.
The 21-year-old has been ruled out of Liverpool’s upcoming matches against Manchester City and Newcastle United.
