Barcelona president Joan Laporta has confirmed that the club has made a bid for Robert Lewandowski which is currently being considered by Bayern Munich.

Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly shown interest in the Polish striker, but he has spurned their advances as his heart is set on a move to Barcelona.

Now it is up to the Catalan club to come to an agreement with the Bavarians, which could be close, with Laporta confirming that an offer is being considered.

‘We have made an offer that they will be evaluating and we are waiting for the answer,’ Laporta said at the unveiling of summer signing Andreas Christensen.

Bayern are thought to want £43m for the 33-year-old veteran forward and are also making demands of Barcelona on the way any deal is structured.

Due to Barca’s woeful financial situation, the Germans want any fee paid upfront in its entirety as they do not trust the Spaniards to pay instalments over a period of time.

They are legitimate concerns as Barcelona are already not in a situation to sign anyone else unless they engineer some more cash in the coming days and weeks.
