Egyptian club El Magd boss Adham El-Selhadar has died after suffering a heart attack while celebrating his team’s stoppage time winner.
El Magd netted a goal in the second minute of added time in their 1-0 victory against El Zarqa in an Egyptian second division match on Thursday.
The goal scored by El Magd sparked jubilant celebrations, before the mood quickly turned sombre when their boss suffered an heart attack following their goal before he was rushed to hospital.
The late El-Selhadar managed club like Ismaily SC and after his death was announced, the Ismaily board of directors headed by Engineer Yahya El-Komy mourns the death of the manager and declared three days of mourning for the passing of his soul.
League rival Al Ahly also paid tribute to the soul of El-Selhadar as their statement read: “Captain Mahmoud Al-Khatib, president of the club and the members of the board of directors mourn with great sadness and sorrow, Coach Adham El-Selhadar who passed away on Thursday.
El-Selhadar enjoyed a successful playing career winning the Egyptian league and cup with Ismaily, and while he was alive he was well respected in the country as a manager.
