Diogo Jota and Virgil van Dijk ‘on the verge of return’ to bolster Liverpool’s injury crisis

Liverpool is on the verge of a much-needed injury boost, with manager Jurgen Klopp saying Diogo Jota and Virgil van Dijk are set to return soon.

Jota has been out since October due to a calf problem, while Van Dijk’s absence dates back to December.

Klopp indicated that Jota would be connected to full team training next week, while Van Dijk could take part in some parts of the training this week already.

The centre-back partnership of Joel Matip and Joe Gomez is likely to feature at Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday as replacement Ibrahima Konate is ruled out with a hamstring issue.

Klopp also commented on recent spending by Chelsea, saying he ‘doesn’t understand how it was possible’, but conceding they have signed ‘good players’.
