Chris Hughton has been announced as the new head coach of the Ghana national football team, taking over from Otto Addo.

Hughton brings a unique blend of cultural and footballing experience to the position and was already part of Ados’s coaching staff at last year’s Qatar World Cup.

As a former Ireland international with a Ghanaian father and an Irish mother, Hughton has made 53 appearances for the Republic of Ireland and has had two spells as caretaker manager at Tottenham Hotspur.

His first full-time role outside England, he will now take charge of the Black Stars in preparation for their 2023 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign, in which Ghana is currently sitting atop its group.

The GFA are certain that Chris Hughton is the man who can bring this talented squad – featuring rising talents like Abdul Fatawu, Kadaldeen Sulemana and Mohammed Kudus – to glory at next year’s tournament in Egypt.
