English footballer Mason Mount is reportedly in stalemate with Chelsea after failing to agree terms for a new contract offer.
The 24-year-old, a regular starter for the Blues since his debut in 2019, is currently on a salary of £80,000 per week and wants to nearly triple his wages to be in line with other top earners at the club – such as Summer signing Raheem Sterling.
Talks between Mount and the Blues have broken down, however, as the club are not prepared to pay him what he views as an acceptable figure.
With his current deal expiring at the end of next season, Chelsea are reluctant for negotiations to demonstrate too long else Mount might potentially enter into his final year of contract with the risk of leaving on a free transfer assuming no compromise is made.
While Mount has continued to secure his spot in Friday’s match against Fulham despite recent attacking area recruitments such as Mykhaylo Mudryk and Noni Madueke, it remains unclear how this breakdown will affect his future prospects with the West London club.
