Arsenal vs. Southampton, How the Gunners could line-up against the Saints

Arsenal would lock horns with most Premier League side Southampton at the Emirates Stadium this weekend.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta would hope Emile Smith-Rowe could return to the Arsenal squad for Saturday’s match in the EPL as the unpredictable Saints side turn up in London.

The Gunners top goal scorer was absent in the Monday night defeat to Everton owing to a tight groin.

But his boss expects him to be ready for the Saints match which is more than the saying for Sead Kolasinac. Gabriel Martinelli is expected to be out with a hamstring he picked up against Everton.

While second-choice goalkeeper Bernd Leno is also a doubt with groin tightness.

After a couple of games on the bench, Kieran Tierney returned to the first team against Rafael Benitez’s Everton and is certain to keep his place in a supposed unchanged backline for this match.

While Nuno Tavares could be among the substitute match. Granit Xhaka surprisingly featured in the entire match at Everton despite returning only just from a knee injury.

And he could feature alongside the underwhelming Ghana’s Thomas Partey for this one. Smith Rowe, Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka are expected to play behind the central striker if the formed is certified fit.

But Arteta has a big selection headache up top. Eddie Nketiah and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang both squandered (possible) goal scoring chances after coming on as substitute away at Everton.

And Alexandre Lacazette did not perform to the highest level from the onset.

But Skipper Aubameyang will be expected to return to the starting lineup for his Arsenal side at home to the visiting Southampton side.

Arsenal possible starting line-up

Aaron Ramsdale; Takehiro Tomiyasu, Ben White, Gabriel Magalhaes, Kieran Tierney; Granit Xhaka, Thomas Partey; Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard, Emile Smith Rowe; Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
