Report: Arsenal Reach Agreement To Sell Bernd Leno

Goalkeeper Bernd Leno is set to sign for Fulham as Arsenal have reportedly reached an agreement with the west London club for £8m, according to the Athletic.

Despite the German international’s quality that made him a crucial member of Arsenal’s squad since 2018 and hailed as ‘amazing’, the upcoming 2022 FIFA World Cup means the goalkeeper should be looking to play regular football for the upcoming season, with Fulham an ideal destination for the shot-stopper.

Indeed, Arsenal have been looking to sell the 30-year-old shot-stopper for some time, and with Fulham newly promoted to the Premier League, Leno brings outstanding quality to the goalkeeping position for Marco Silva’s squad, something that could keep the Cottagers in the top-flight for the first time in a while.

The motivation of the World Cup could spur Leno on to perform the best he ever has since moving to England, and being sold by Arsenal could also inspire the goalkeeper to showcase to the Gunners what they are missing out on by selling him to a London rivals.

Arsenal are yet to sell a single player this summer for any form of money, and whilst the Gunners are making a loss on Leno, offloading the keeper to Fulham is a great move for all parties involved and one that could help Mikel Arteta bring in another new face this summer.
