AFCON 2021: Chidozie Awaziem Set To Miss Eagles Clash Against Sudan On Saturday

Super Eagles and Alanyaspor defender Chidozie Awaziem is set to miss Nigeria’s second game at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon against Sudan on Saturday due to a knock.

Awaziem missed Eagles opening match against Egypt on Tuesday, with head coach of the team confirming after the victory against the Pharaohs of Egypt that Awaziem had a slight knock.

The defender missed the team’s recovery training on Wednesday, which further dashed the hope of seeing him play for the Super Eagles on Saturday.

Reports gathered from the team camp revealed that the defender his under the weather, but it is not Covid 19 related as some reports had it.

William Troost Ekong and Omeruo partnered in the heart of Eagles defence on Tuesday, to give Nigeria the victory against Egypt with a clean sheet.

Although the Leganes centre back also picked up an injury in the game, however he is expected to be fit for the game against Sudan after he was pictured in training.

A win for the Super Eagles on Saturday will seal their place in the knockout rounds, before taking on Guinea-Bissau in the last match of group D.
