Arsenal faced their first defeat of the Premier League season at the hands of Bournemouth, who secured a 2-0 victory at home.

This loss came as a shock to the third-placed Gunners, who had the chance to ascend to the top of the table.

William Saliba was dismissed in the first half for pulling down striker Evanilson near the halfway line, marking the third time this season Arsenal has finished a league match with ten men.

Despite an uneventful start, Bournemouth seized the opportunity to capitalize on Arsenal’s misfortune.

Substitute Ryan Christie broke the deadlock with a stunning shot into the top corner 20 minutes from before the end, just as Arsenal seemed to have weathered the worst of Bournemouth’s pressure.

As Arsenal pushed for an equalizer, they left gaps in the defense which Evanilson exploited.

After being brought down by goalkeeper David Raya, Justin Kluivert converted the resulting penalty to seal Bournemouth’s victory.
